ATHN And HTRS

The Hemophilia and Thrombosis Research Society (HTRS) is dedicated to advancing the care of persons with bleeding or clotting disorders through clinical research, professional mentoring, and continuing medical education. Incorporated as a nonprofit research society in 1992, HTRS members consist of physicians active in the treatment and clinical research of patients with hemophilia, other congenital bleeding disorders and thrombophilia including many of the directors of hemostasis and thrombosis treatment centers in the United States and Canada.  Associate membership is extended to basic scientists, research nurses, social workers and other health care workers.

Given the complementary nature of their missions, HTRS and ATHN will consider creating a merged organization that would encompass the missions of both organizations and that builds on the strengths of each. In order to thoroughly explore the options available, the Boards of each organization have agreed to form an exploratory committee to begin discussions and review the possibilities.

Drs. Peter Kouides, Joan Gill and Len Valentino will represent the HTRS, working under the direction of in-coming HTRS President Nigel Key. ATHN has designated Amy Shapiro, Tom Abshire, Harold Roberts and Diane Aschman as our representatives. Roshni Kulkarni will join the group as well.
