Looking for up-to-date information on development of the ATHN database, its disaster preparedness plan, and key partnership within the hemostasis and thrombosis community? Want more information about becoming actively involved as an ATHN Affiliate and helping to shape ATHN’s future direction? Then plan to attend ATHN’s first annual data summit from July 31st through August 1st at the Westin Hotel on Chicago’s beautiful lakefront. The ATHN Data Summit 2008 mirrors the momentum building at ATHN. It brings you up-to-date on major milestones including the ATHN database, the emergency preparedness program and key partnerships. It promises to seek your input on program and research priorities. The agenda includes working groups on rare bleeding disorders and thrombosis, breakout sessions on emergency preparedness, as well as the web-based version of Lab Tracker. This first meeting is open to all HTCs — both ATHN Affiliates and non-affiliates. If you’re not already an ATHN Affiliate, find out about the benefits of becoming one, including eligibility for data management support. Attendees will also receive an update on the more than 50% of federally funded HTCs in the ATHN Affiliate program. We encourage HTC team participation, and those joining us include:
Registration for ATHN Data Summit 2008 is easy—simply visit www.athn.org/summit and fill out the online registration form. If you’re an HTC or one of our government partners, your registration fee is waived. And, to ensure that financial constraints do not stand in the way of participation, ATHN is offering a $500 travel stipend to any ATHN Affiliate in need — no questions asked. To be eligible, the HTC must sign the ATHN Affiliate agreement, attend the summit and submit expenses. (One stipend per affiliate.) Attendees staying at the Weston are eligible for a special ATHN room rate, so request this rate when you book your reservation.
