HTC Spotlight

In mid-October, ATHN initiated an e-survey on its website, polling HTCs about data manager issues to help us understand HTC data management needs and how we can best support data collection efforts. Specifically, the survey sought to

  • Assess the current state of data collection and use;
  • Facilitate improved data collection; and
  • Develop a fact base to provide data manager funding and support to HTC’s.

To date, more than 50 percent of HTCs have responded! Preliminary findings include:

  • Approximately 30 percent of respondents perceive that they have adequate staff to computerize data;
  • HTRS registry participants perceive that it would be valuable to incorporate HTRS data requirements into Lab Tracker (Web) to avoid duplicate data entry;
  • Over 60% of HTCs already see thrombosis patients within the HTC;
  • Only one HTC downloads laboratory data into Lab Tracker; yet
  • Almost half of Lab Tracker users routinely computerize patient infusion records.
  • The amount of data collected beyond the UDC results will be used by ATHN to plan training, technical support as well as an approach to funding data managers at a local level.

If you haven’t completed your survey, you still have time, please respond today. Many thanks to each HTC that took the time to thoughtfully complete the survey.
