ATHN Affiliates

Affiliates

Supporting specialty clinics. Advancing specialty care.

ATHN Affiliates are federally funded hemophilia treatment centers (HTCs) and other providers of speciality care for patients with bleeding and thrombotic disorders. Compromised of clinicians and researchers who collaborate to gain a better understanding of bleeding and clotting disorders, these affiliates partner with ATHN to establish a safe and secure national database of patient health information that serves as a community resource.

Today, more than 120 treatment centers are ATHN Affiliates. ATHN Affiliates represent a cross section of the community, including academic research centers, large centers and smaller ones, Lab Tracker users and non-users, those with 340B pharmacy program affiliations and those without.

WebTracker™: The value of data at work

Treatment centers across the country are experiencing tangible benefits of the ATHN Affiliate partnership. WebTracker is a powerful data management tool that enables treatment centers to record data once and reuse it over and over again&emdash;for care, clinic management, research, and reporting to federal/state agencies. This new software also allows patients who choose to participate in the ATHNdataset to share a limited amount of non-identifiable data related to their care. ATHN can then use this data to facilitate research that helps improve care and support advocacy efforts on behalf of patients with bleeding and clotting disorders.

Supporting data management

ATHN recognizes the importance of data quality. ATHN is working with treatment centers to advance the complete and accurate collection of data in a standardized electronic format. The ATHN program&emdash;called ATHNdata.quality.counts&emdash;provides support and funding for ATHN Affiliates across the country.

Since 2008, ATHN has awarded more than $2.5 million in ATHNdata.quality.counts funding to increase treatment center capacity for maintaining secure and accurate data. This funding will support HTCs to expand their capacity to:

  • Secure complete and accurate core data (e.g. demographics, diagnoses, coagulation medications, surgeries, laboratory tests, contact information, and insurance) for use in the ATHNdataset, disaster preparedness, and patient management beyond annual visits;
  • Support WebTracker users to increase the amount and/or quality of data;
  • Jumpstart WebTracker data collection by centers that are not currently users of Lab Tracker;
  • Implement ATHN programs and technology tools powered by, or related to, WebTracker including: the ATHNdataset, the data quality self-audit, ATHNadvoy, and ATHNready.
