Patient resources

Welcome to the American Thrombosis and Hemostasis Network’s (ATHN) new resource for patients and families. This page is designed to provide educational information for you and your family about ATHN partnerships and programs. We invite you to browse through the patient education materials here to learn more about ATHN and how ATHN can help you.

  • Patient Education Brochure
This patient information brochure has been designed to answer questions about ATHN, the ATHN database and how it will help patients and families in the hemophilia community.
  • ATHN’s Partnership with Hemophilia Treatment Centers (HTCs)
HTCs across the country are signing up to be a part of ATHN. This means they are part of a special group of centers across the country, called ATHN Affiliates. These centers are committed to improving the care of people with bleeding and clotting disorders. Working with ATHN, these centers are collecting, storing and managing patient health data through a secure national database that follows all privacy guidelines. Click here to see if your HTC is an ATHN Affiliate.
  • Find an HTC Anywhere in the U.S.
In conjunction with the Centers for Disease Control , ATHN has mapped the location of all HTCs around the country in an interactive format. Patients displaced by a disaster or moving to another location can quickly and easily identify a comprehensive HTC anywhere in the U.S. Click here to view the map.
  • New ATHN Program Helps Families Be Prepared for Disasters and Emergencies
To help families with critical pieces of the disaster planning process, a new program is being rolled out through which HTCs systematically provide the National Hemophilia Foundation (NHF) recommended medical information to patients in a portable form.

    ATHNReady

This program – called ATHNready – focuses specifically on the hemophilia community and is being led by ATHN. Click here to read more about being prepared and the ATHNready program.

  • ATHN is Working in Partnership with Other Hemophilia Community Organizations
Members of the ATHN Community Liaison Group include the NHF, the Hemophilia Foundation of America (HFA), the Committee of Ten Thousand (COTT), the National Alliance for Thrombosis and Thrombophilia (NATT) and others. Click here for links to these community resources.
